After you do your wedding rehearsal of walking through how your ceremony will go the day before you get married, it is common to have a rehearsal dinner afterward! For an opposite-sex couple, the groom’s family traditionally hosts this event, and that was the case for us. Since I am a planner & we know Cabo like the back of our hands, I planned our rehearsal dinner, but Richie’s parents kindly footed the bill. However, this can be something you as a couple host, or both sets of parents can chip in, or you can opt-out of a rehearsal dinner altogether.

If you decide you want to have a rehearsal dinner, here are 5 Rich & Kitch tips for choosing a location for your rehearsal dinner!

01 THINK ABOUT THE TYPE OF CUISINE YOU WANT

When it comes to rehearsal dinner cuisine, think about picking a place with your favorite type of food, a restaurant that offers foods local to the area, or maybe even a restaurant that has sentimental value. For us, we chose a restaurant with sentimental value, and while it was Italian food served in Cabo, everyone loved it! The restaurant we had our wedding rehearsal dinner at is called Romeo y Julieta. This Italian restaurant is by far our favorite in all of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! You can read more about this amazing Italian restaurant & Rich & Kitch's destination wedding rehearsal dinner here.

02 THINK ABOUT HOW YOU WANT THE FOOD TO BE SERVED

Do you want your rehearsal dinner to be a more formal event? If so, then we suggest having a plated sit-down dinner. However, if you are having that style of dinner for your wedding reception, you might want to switch it up for your rehearsal dinner and go with buffet style or passed appetizers. The restaurant we picked offered food that is best served plated, so that helped us make our decision. However, this also required us to make table seating arrangements for our rehearsal dinner, so that is something to keep in mind as well.

03 THINK ABOUT THE OVERALL VIBE OF THE RESTAURANT & REHEARSAL DINNER SPACE

Do you want your rehearsal dinner vibe to tie into your wedding style? If you want it to be a completely different vibe, that is totally fine, too! We recommend doing what works best for you as a couple. Also as you are considering your rehearsal dinner venue, keep in mind aesthetics, if you want outdoor or indoor seating, etc. You could even charter a boat like Animalon by the Sea for your rehearsal dinner which would be amazing! Our rehearsal dinner restaurant was partially outdoors with romantic vibes which is definitely what we were going for!

04 THINK ABOUT WHO YOU WILL INVITE

Depending on the rehearsal dinner budget of who is hosting, you may only want to invite your close family members & wedding party to the rehearsal dinner. However, if you can invite your entire guest list, you should, especially for your Los Cabos, Mexico destination wedding!

05 THINK ABOUT THE SPACE ACCOMMODATIONS & PRIVACY OF THE RESTAURANT/VENUE

You will want to make sure that everyone can fit comfortably in your rehearsal dinner space & that you have a (somewhat) private location for your event! Rehearsal dinners can be a great way for guests to mingle & get to know each other more before the wedding. Like our rehearsal dinner, this also gives important family members or friends a chance to give speeches if that is something that’s important to you, and makes more of an event out of the dinner!

Keeping those points in mind, once you & your significant other decide on a few rehearsal dinner options, we recommend getting quotes to see what will fit best in your budget! We got lucky since our first choice ended up being the most affordable and was available on our date, but make sure you have a backup option just in case, too!
