Planning a luxury honeymoon in Greece or chartering a private yacht through the Aegean? With world-famous sunsets, crystal-clear waters, and endless chic hotels & beach clubs, Greece is one of the top destinations for luxury travelers.
If you’re new here, we’re Rich & Kitch — luxury travel creators who curate luxury escapes worldwide. We recently explored Athens & 7 Greek islands aboard a private yacht, so we’re ranking each stop to help you decide where to go (and what to skip) for your dream Greek getaway.

GREECE TRAVEL GUIDE: SANTORINI (11/10) – THE ULTIMATE LUXURY HONEYMOON ISLAND
Santorini is every honeymooner’s dream. The whitewashed cliffs of Oia, paired with iconic blue domes, make this island the most romantic stop in Greece. The views in the town of Oia are truly breathtaking and there are many exceptional wineries & gourmet restaurants to choose from in Santorini. We highly recommend planning an afternoon of wine tasting, enjoying a day at Forty One Beach Club on Santorini's black sand beach, & making a sunset dinner reservation at the famous Dimitris Ammoudi Taverna.
Wondering where to stay in Santorini? Katikies Hotel Santorini is the best luxury boutique hotel in Oia:
Built right into Oia’s caldera, the architecture & design are breathtaking at every turn.
Rooms are luxurious & many include iconic cave pools.
Katikies Hotel Santorini has 3 incredible shared pools, each with its own vibe. We spent the majority of our time at the Lower Deck Lounge where we enjoyed the beautiful infinity pool, delicious lunch, & stunning Aegean views.
There are incredible dining options, including Michelin-starred Botrini’s Restaurant & Champagne Bar by Fleur de Miraval.
Exceptional service from start to finish — starting with your five-star private transfer to the hotel.

Santorini is best for honeymooners seeking relaxation, luxury, & Instagram-worthy moments. If you're chartering a yacht, anchoring can be difficult in Santorini due to the deep waters. Therefore, we took the ferry from Ios & it wasn't nearly as bad as we imagined. There are also endless hotels we can recommend for your visit to Santorini, so spending 3-7 nights on this beautiful island is absolutely worth it.
Out of all the places we visited in Europe, Santorini is at the top of our list. We’ll be dreaming about our return since vacationing here is absolutely breathtaking!

GREECE TRAVEL GUIDE: MYKONOS (11/10) – THE MOST FUN & MOST LUXURIOUS ISLAND FOR YACHT CHARTERS
Mykonos is where luxury meets energy — from world-class beach clubs for lively honeymooners to serene bays perfect for anchoring your yacht. Mykonos is a large island & offers so much to explore — from its charming town to luxury hotels to its all-day party vibes. We highly recommend a daytime party at Nammos & a sunset dinner party at Scorpios. Other spots we recommend include:
Daytime party at Principote, Super Paradise Beach Club, or SantAnna Mykonos
Sunset dinner at Cavo Tagoo's Meraki Restaurant, Zuma Mykonos, or Alemagou
Late night evening at Interni or Cavo Paradiso
Where should you stay in Mykonos? Our top choices are on your yacht, or in a luxury resort such as Santa Marina or The Coast Bill&Coo. Browse our Greece yacht charter options here.

GREECE TRAVEL GUIDE: PAROS (10/10) – AUTHENTIC GREEK CHARM
Paros blends authentic Greek island charm with upscale beach clubs & restaurants — the perfect balance between Mykonos’ glamour & Santorini’s romance. Paros' town of Naousa was picture perfect and filled with boutique shops & harbor restaurants. We highly recommend spending a day at Faragas Beach Bar — it's a chic beach club with stunning water to swim in. For dinner, we highly recommend Barbarossa (an iconic Greek restaurant that was so much fun!) A day trip to nearby Antiparos is a must, too! Paros is perfect for couples wanting a mix of authentic Greek vibes with luxury touches — highly recommend visiting for a 2-3 nights! We recommend staying near Naousa at one of the following resorts:

GREECE TRAVEL GUIDE: KEA (10/10) –
The island of Kea is a hidden gem just an hour from Athens — perfect for a pre- or post-yacht charter stay. We visited Porto Koundouros Beach Bar which had the best spicy margarita in Greece (honestly top 3 I've ever had which says a lot living in Cabo!) The sandy beach here was amazing & the crystal clear water was stunning. We had so much fun paddleboarding, swimming, & making lunch on our yacht here.
We can't wait to return to this hidden gem of an island to stay at One&Only Kea. If you want to stay at this One&Only resort as much as we do, contact us here so we can add the following VIP perks:
Top of the list for a room upgrade
Complimentary daily breakfast for two guests per bedroom, served in the restaurant
$100 USD equivalent Resort credit to be utilized during stay
Early check-in / Late check-out whenever possible
Kea is the perfect escape for high-net-worth travelers looking for seclusion for 2-3 nights!

GREECE TRAVEL GUIDE: KYTHNOS (9/10) – UNDERRATED, LAIDBACK SMALL TOWN
Quaint & quiet, Kythnos offers authentic village charm but lacks the polished luxury of other islands. This island was our first unplanned stop on our yacht charter due to windy September weather, but we were pleasantly surprised! Our dinner at Margiora was good & having a night cap cocktail at Kraken was a vibe. The downsides to this island are that there are only a few taxis (our driver was also the island's bee keeper lol) & beaches were rocky/not the prettiest + full of sea urchins. Luckily, Richie survived swimming in the anchor lines on Day 1 & we quickly learned you should only charter a yacht with multiple crew members... but more to come on that in another blog post. Until then, we recommend Kythnos for a lowkey overnight stop if it's on your yacht charter path! You can browse our Greece yacht charter options here.

GREECE TRAVEL GUIDE: IOS (9/10) – MEET MINI-MYKONOS
Ios is emerging as a trendy destination with a mix of bohemian luxury & nightlife. We didn't spend much time in Ios, but we definietly see potential with their beaches & nightlife in Chora! We had a touristy/authentic dinner at The Mills & the service was great. If you want the traditional taverna experience, this is it. Additional recommendations to add to your party list include FarOut & Pathos. Ios is a great island for younger couples wanting Mykonos energy at a lower price point, but we highly recommend staying at Calilo Hotel Ios for 2-3 nights!

GREECE TRAVEL GUIDE: SERIFOS (9/10) – CUTE PORT TOWN
Serifos is a small island but perfect for a quick yacht stop since it has the cutest port town! We had an amazing dinner on the water at Lepi Lepi & a night cap at the Yacht Club. Winds were rough which made docking interesting overnight lol, so our unplanned visit here was even shorter than expected. However, we would return to see the main town & beaches. Overall, Serifos is best for overnight yacht charters seeking new destinations. You can browse our Greece yacht charter options here.

GREECE TRAVEL GUIDE: ATHENS (7/10) – CITY FOR HISTORY LOVERS
Athens is worth a stop for its ancient history but lacks the romance & luxury of the islands. Since this is Greece's main airport, you'll likely fly here (like we did on United Polaris). Next time, we might take another flight from Athens straight to Mykonos or Santorini, & skip the overnight stay. However, if you're a first time visitor, we'd recommend staying 1-2 nights in Athens. We didn't love the city, but we did love our stay at Grand Hyatt Athens thanks to the hotel's amazing Acropolis views & rooftop pools (more details here!). During our one-night stay, we also walked down the street to have an amazing Greek dinner at Masina (highly recommend).
If we were to stay in Athens again, we would stay outside of the city at Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens. VIP perks we can offer here include:
Complimentary daily breakfast for 2
$100 USD hotel credit for rooms or $200 USD hotel credit for suites & private retreats
Top of the list for a room upgrade
Early check-in, late check-out whenever possible
Please contact us here to book your stay with VIP perks!
During the last night of our yacht charter, we also stayed in Lavrio Port & had a great meal at a restaurant called The Port, but there isn't really a reason to visit here unless your yacht leaves from this port. You can browse our Greece yacht charter options here.
Our quick stops in Athens weren't bad, but definitely not the highlights of our trip, so choosing to visit will depend on your travel style. Bonus Rich & Kitch Athens tip: we used Timos Transportation to/from the airport/hotel/port. Their number is +306949063683.

RICH & KITCH THOUGHTS ON LUXURY TRAVEL IN GREECE
Our verdict? We truly loved everywhere we visited in Greece, even the “touristy” spots (visiting in September with fewer crowds probably helped)... but the crystal-clear waters, delicious cocktails & wines, some of the best meals of our lives, the laidback & kind culture… Greece did not disappoint. What surprised us most was how each island felt uniquely “Greek” yet totally different. Santorini’s beauty. Mykonos’ energy. Paros’ authenticity. Kea’s hidden luxury. Each had its own magic. The only downside to our most recent trip? The wind — not exactly ideal for a weeklong yacht charter. Thankfully, our captain knew hidden gems we might have missed otherwise.
The best way to experience Greece in luxury is by combining a few stays at a five-star resorts with a private yacht charter to explore multiple islands in one trip. If you’re planning a luxury honeymoon in Greece or a Mediterranean yacht charter, our advice is to prioritize Santorini & Mykonos, and add Paros & Kea for something different. But no matter where you decide to visit, Greece is absolutely worth it.
