HABANERO MARGARITA RECIPE RECIPE FOR 2
Have to give Jetset Christina credit for this spicy margarita recipe. However, we didn’t use Cointreau/Triple Sec since I’m not a huge fan of that flavor in my margaritas, and we made a few other modifications so our version of the recipe is below! On Instagram, she also recommended making the simple syrup with coconut sugar. This makes the margarita brown, so it's not the prettiest, but it is SO good! This spicy margarita recipe is currently my favorite.
ingredients
5oz tequila
2 limes
Habanero + coconut sugar simple syrup
Ice
Salt
simple syrup
1/2 cup coconut sugar
1/2 cup water
1 finely chopped habanero pepper (use 1/2 of the pepper for less spice)
bring all ingredients to a boil on the stove top until sugar is dissolved. Let it cool & store it in the fridge.
shaking it up
Juice from 2 limes
Splash of habanero + coconut sugar simple syrup
5oz tequila
Shake with ice
assembling your margs
Salt the rims of your margarita glasses (enjoy with a chili-lime salt rim for an extra kick!) *Put salt, chili powder, & cayenne pepper (optional for extra spice) in a shallow bowl *Take a lime wedge around the outside of your glass *Dip glass into the salt/chili powder mixture
Fill your margarita glasses with ice
Pour your shaker into your prepared glasses & enjoy!
All of these margs are relatively healthy for a cocktail, not too sweet & not too spicy (I love the heat but my husband/bartender we call Ricardo can’t handle as much as I can lol), and super refreshing! I have also noticed my hangovers aren’t too bad when drinking tequila, so there’s a perk to that too! If you want to make these spicy margaritas even more refreshing/not as strong, you can add Lime La Croix!
