My husband Richie & I are known to bring the fun to a party, especially when we are visiting his family's lake house in the summer. Making pudding shots and/or jell-o shots is a tradition on my side of the family, so we decided to extend the fun! Every 4th of July we spend at Richie's lake, we bring some sort of festive shot. This year, I found the cutest inspiration for beach themed pudding shots from this Food Network recipe! These would be perfect to bring to any family/friends gathering, BBQ, pool party, boat ride, etc. all summer long! Make sure to tag me on Instagram if you make these! Enjoy!
Ingredients for the pudding shots:
2 packages of instant vanilla pudding mix (we use sugar free)
1 & 1/2 cups milk (we used 2% Fairlife milk, but anything should work)
1/2 cup vodka
1 cup Irish cream liqueur (we use almond but make sure no one has a nut allergy if you use this one, too!)
Blue (or teal) gel food coloring
2 (8 ounce) containers of frozen whipped topping (we buy lite), thawed - really helpful if you let this thaw before making them!
Instructions for the pudding shots:
Add all of the above ingredients (minus the frozen whipped topping that you should have thawed) to a mixing bowl. We use our KitchenAid mixer to mix it up, but a big bowl & a whisk works, too.
Gradually add the containers of frozen whipped topping
Add desired amount of blue food coloring
Ingredients for the toppings & assembling:
About 1/2 cup of graham cracker crumbs
1 gummy ring to put on top of each pudding shot cup (we bought 2 bags of smart sweets, which we didn’t really like, so I would leave these out completely next time, they just won't look as festive)
1 teddy bear-shaped graham cracker per shot (we bought mini ones which are so cute!)
Plastic spoons are a must!
Instructions for assembling:
Finely crush the graham crackers (we put ours in the blender & they literally felt like sand haha)
Pour a small layer of your crushed graham crackers on the bottom of each plastic cup
Add your blue pudding mixture to each cup, but leave some room at the top for the toppings
Add your gummy ring for a floatie (if using) then put your teddy bear-shaped graham cracker inside the gummy ring
Sprinkle extra graham crackers next to part of the gummy ring for a beach effect
How cute & fun are these beach themed pudding shots?! If you decide not to use the gummy rings to make a floatie, I like to call the shots "pool themed pudding shots" - since the bears are floating in the pool! Hope you enjoy the recipe!
